Broken Cappilaries On Stomach

With Skirts already (Wilder) 1959

I wish I could say something bad to say something new about this movie.
"Some Like It Hot " or as translated in this country, " With Like It Hot" is a true pleasure from the first minute to last.

For if there is any alien who has not seen the movie "Some Like It Hot" tells the story of Joe (Tony Curtis ) and Jerry (Jack Le mmon ) two musicians that are out of work to discover the local police on illegal (because Prohibition) in which they work. As if that were short misfortune to have run out of income, are witnesses of the massacre on Valentine's Day 1929. Thanks to an oversight of the murderers escape and decide to hide in a female orchestra travels to Florida. Joe becomes Daphne Josephine and Jerry. There they meet the singer of the band, Sugar Kane (Marilyn Monroe or Norma Jeane, a name I quite like I do not know why ...) fixing a girl find a husband a millionaire but a weakness for the saxophonists scoundrels.

Where to begin to break down the virtues of this comedy, considered by the American Film Institute as the best comedy of all time and the No. 14 best movie ever.

The script, adapted by Billy Wilder (director, co-writer c o-producer) and IAL Diamond based on a history of Robert Thoeren and Michael Logan for the 1951 German comedy " Fanfare der Liebe "which tells the story of two musicians who join a band of ladies and maintain romance with the singer of the band, is unsurpassed.

Wilder and Diamond were introduced to the mafia in history, because the musicians wanted to have good reasons to cross-dress and blend in a female orchestra, as Wilder wanted his heterosexual male characters were hotly to stay on the train surrounded by temptations were a torment.

What better reason to have to flee the mob on his heels and what greater temptation than the, then, sex symbol, Marilyn Monroe.

Marilyn's talent as an actress has been and will always be questioned. I've always been very reluctant to movies starring Monroe. I think I had a great comedic character but allowed him an expert. But apparently, Marilyn was not happy and carefree girl that reflect most of his films.
The girl who had a gift for comedy had a terrible starting with childhood abandonment of her father, imbalance and subsequent abandonment of his mother, at least a dozen adoptive families, two violations (one by his own uncle) and a forced marriage at 16 years not go to the orphanage. Whatever
more blonde bimbo or list, you must have a pretty good job brain to overcome this.

"has something. It is a lovely creature. I do not mean in the sense evide nt in what is probably too obvious. I do not think an actress at all, at least in the traditional sense. What she possesses, this presence, this luminosity ity that intelligence dazzling be lost on stage. It is so fragile and delicate e qu can only grasp a camera. It's like the flight of a hummingbird: a camera can only express his poetry. But that creates that this girl is simply another Harlow or a mere ra or something like that is crazy ... " (Constance Collier, professor of interpretation of Marilyn Monroe ( From the book" Portraits "Truman Capote )

I keep discovering Marilyn Monroe (and if not tell that to the 40 euros I spent Friday in a pack of his movies) and I agree with Constance Collier in that light some may call action and other sparks. In the case of "Some Like It Hot" meets the remit of its role is to have that point of innocence and sensuality that seduces Joe and Jerry. Besides having the time song " I Want to Be Loved By You " or "I'm Through With Love "

Another issue was that of memory. To make this film, Wilder literally stuck pieces of paper with the words of the actress throughout the set. It appears that it was the only director who gave him a headache with this issue.

I leave a video I found where you see the difficulties faced by Marilyn to memorize the scripts. The first minute shows the errors of Marilyn in the film "Something's Got To Give." If you want to see the rest of the video also worthwhile. Contains footage of Marilyn spontaneous mistakes and breaks over the shooting and several photos. Of course I had a lovely smile when he came natural, rather than acting.

also seems that the whole team had to suffer the imputualidad of the actress who was pregnant at the time.

But in my opinion, even Marilyn's luminosity could eclipse the great Jack Lemmon that makes an impeccable job as the smiling, innocent Daphne. For me, one of the best comedic roles that have played ever.

I think I can never stop laughing with the scene of the tango.

From this film Lemmon became the favorite actor for Billy Wilder.
are many hilarious scenes featuring Jack Lemmon, but the most mythical are the tango and the announcement of its commitment to Osgood Fielding III playing the maracas.

Lemmon Wilder teaching the tango.

His co-star, Tony Curtis was not going to lag behind even when the two characters who feel more uncomfortable dressed as a woman is not as hilarious as Jack Lemmon. Tony Curtis plays

Joe and Josephine, and is a saxophonist and macho womanizer to be tested in their own skin, which is to be a woman and a slob like him do not leave you alone. Know firsthand how Josephine Sugar Kane's feelings and learn that a woman is not a mere object.

had was that the little success to say " kissing Marilyn was like kissing Hitler ."

Wilder giving a lesson of passion to his players.

Special mention Joe E. Brown old man who plays the millionaire who woos Daphne and George Raft auotoparodia that playing the role of a gangster who had so often played in the 30's.

The moment they appear white boots "boots" is a great resource, especially at the end. Those who've seen the film and will understand what I mean.

The script does not lose agility and pace at any time. Holds the attention and laughter with sparkling and witty dialogues, without making a critique of society, as we have used Wilder show a humorous look through different time references. For example, as mentioned before the Prohibition, references cinéphiles Valentino and Ramon Novarro, irony and the security of the bag (although the movie is 59 years, the events take place during 1929, the year of the crak of the bag) or tributes to the gangster films of the 30's.

Although Wilder was able to film in Technicolor and decided not to shoot in black and white as the makeup of the men was something grotesque in technicolor.

There are many things about the Oscars but I do not understand that this film nominated for best director, actor (Jack Lemmon), Adapted Screenplay, photography and art direction, just take the Oscar for Best Costume beyond my understanding.

The last sentence " Flawless" Diamond wrote it the night before finishing the set and insisted that it was so unexpectedly funny. Certainly not imagine that Wilder himself would write on his tombstone.

Greetings =)
